West Wing premiere thoughts
I missed another premiere, and once again I blame my flist. ::looks around with shifty eyes:: Okay, not so much blame my flist, but with all the people that (used) to watch The West Wing, you'd think someone would remind me, right? Not so much, no. Whoops. Doesn't matter, it took less than an hour to download.

I'm trying to look at things objectively. I don't think that love is quite enough to describe my feelings toward that show during the first 2 years. Third year was fun, fourth was okay, fifth SUCKED the big one, the first half of six was meh, but it really started to pick it up during the latter half of the sixth. Despite it not being how amazing it had been at one point, I still enjoyed it. If I had turned on the TV at the beginning of the campaign without seeing anything before hand, I would have thought it was a damn good show with amazing characters, and I would have tuned in again.

That being said, I tried to be objective about watching the season premiere again, and found that it paid off.

The opening 3 minutes pissed me off. Why would they show us that? There's no reason -- it's like they tried to raise our curiosity, but it just fell flat. I'm glad I didn't turn off the TV right there.

But after -- I loved the excitement of the campaign, the way everyone interacted with each other, and the way that everyone was asking about 'it' for about 3 minutes before we realize it's a gallop poll. Josh is in his element, and once again HAWT.

Annabeth is a new favourite. I mean, I've always loved her, but since I've rediscovered Broadway, I love her even more. Honestly, I had to press pause because I was laughing so hard with the Wizard of Oz discussion. WAY too funny. I think I need to make an icon. Anyone know where I can find screen caps? I've been out of the West Wing fandom for too long to know where I can find those things.

And Josh / Donna. I'll be honest, I've watched that thing about 40 times. They're like crack. I was a puddle on the floor when I saw that, and all of a sudden I'm hooked for another season. (Who am I kidding? I can't leave. I could never leave.) And he had her file in the second drawer of his desk -- in an office that he just moved into. Can we have a collective awwwwwww?

And then, all of a sudden, I'm planning a post-ep in my head. I don't even write West Wing fanfic. (although, it seems like I might start.)

And so, those are my fannish thoughts.

I wrote about my lack of caring for the TV season and mentioned taping WW Sunday! So it's not my fault, ha. :P

I think it's hilarious that after, what, three years of us knowing each other, we have the same feelings about the show. We feel the exact same about seasons 1-6 overall, and very similar about the premiere! I could tell the teaser was a bone to us old-schoolers, and totally agree it served NO purpose to the actual episode. It did, however, get me saying "OMG CJ and Danny!" about 5 times and got me to look forward to the ep to see if they did anything with it. Which, of course, they didn't, but whatever.

I am not as thrilled with the campaign stuff in general. I liked how they handled the re-election campaign, interspursing it with real stuff and good stuff (ala 20HiA). I don't hate this campaign, but I still pine for the old school days. If we can get some good writing and directing in the campaign, I'll like it more. Awwww J/D! That right there, Josh's voice crack, finally made me believe their relationship wouldn't be ruined by John Wells. I'm looking forward to seeing how it continues now.

And now I feel like a dork for only having two WW icons. (I think.) I guess that means I'm getting sorta back into the fandom too. Only on an episode-by-episode basis, though. JW/NBC hasn't convinced me yet. You should definitely write your post-ep!! I'll add it to my archive for ya. :)

I didn't even realize it had started - they hardly advertised at all on NBC, I thought it was going to be a midseason thing, like Scrubs.

Few points: no TV, was still recovering from the weekend excursions, if it doesn't have anything to do with teaching I'll probably not pay attention. lolol.
